Owners of the Empress River Casino had visions of ancient Egyptian splendors when they challenged the design team to create a dramatic nighttime setting on a shoestring budget.

The building's entry sequence unfolds with the stark contrast of a modern day parking lot fronting a scene reminiscent of a Nile palace. The building's exterior theming is dramatically enhanced through light that emphasizes textures and architectural form, while rendering the entire façade a magical glow.

Once inside, the patron is tempted by a variety of hospitality experiences including the facility's flagship restaurant and café, where mystic Egyptian imagery tops the menu. Lighting sets the stage in the bar, lounge and restaurant where most of the space's dramatic accent and functional light emanates from the floor. The unusual encounter with light helps make the visitor's night a memorable one.
