Orange County
Convention and Civic Center

A convention and meeting facility offers a wide range of lighting design challenges. This Orlando, Florida center is one of the largest of its kind in the United States.

The hallmark of the project's lighting concept is its near seamless integration with the architecture. From the exterior uplighted canopy protecting the main drop-off area to the softly bathed central ceiling, concealed light sources enhance the building's form. A linear bull nose detail is reinforced by a hidden line of neon which is then carried into the column capital design.

Functional lighting throughout is accomplished with highly efficient high color rendering metal halide and fluorescent sources. A centralized dimming and control system orchestrates the convention center's operation.
