History

Randy Burkett Lighting Design was founded in 1988 and has serviced a diverse clientele throughout North America for the past two decades. The Saint Louis, Missouri, USA–based practice currently employs eight design professionals, with lighting related backgrounds and educations in architectural engineering, architecture, interior design and theatre. The entire team shares the common goal to assist our clients in helping realize their visions, while working to better the world through lighting’s contribution to the quality of life.

Formerly Director of Lighting Design at HOK, Randy Burkett founded the firm with a desire to provide the quality lighting design, while maintaining a high degree of client–focused attention. A remarkably varied collection of successful work in such areas as: corporate office environments, museums, hospitality, retail, historic restoration, monumental spaces, campus, site, and exterior building facades, speaks to the company’s breadth of knowledge and experience. The firm’s 20–plus years of design work includes commissions throughout the United States and twenty other countries.

The practice has been recognized with a wealth of lighting design awards and public recognition for its body of work. Many of these are chronicled in substantial detail within the Honors and Selected Work sections of this website.
